Artifacts

Over the years, Robert and Margrit Mondavi acquired “wine antiques” and historical artifacts in an effort to demonstrate the role wine has played in our civilization for over 5000 years. A wine amphora (dated 1 B.C.) discovered in the Mediterranean Sea remains one of the oldest pieces and can be seen in the winery’s Appellation Tasting Room.

While not exhaustive, the pieces included here are some of the more important artifacts at the winery. Most can be seen in the public areas; however, some can only be viewed on our tours.
